Am I the ONLY one who knows you're not supposed to flush tampons in the toilet? Well, no, my friend and I, and my mum all know, but everyone else I mention this to doesn't get it.

I don' tuse them, so I have no problems about deciding to flush or not to flush, but if I did use them, and flushed them, our plumbing would go apeshit, and my mum would strangle me.

some tampon boxes say you can flush the tampon but not the applicator...but i never do anyways....if i blocked up our toilet I would be the one plunging it so....O.o

It's bad to flush any part of it. It is bad for the plumbing. True story. That's why public toiets have big signs that tell ou not to flush anyhitng other than toiletpaper.

The toilets here just say not to flush "sanitary napkins". I thought everyone flushes tampons. I've never met anyone who doesn't! Weird! I know everyone in my family does, and the few of my friends who I talk to about periods flush them too.

It seems people have differing opinions on the matter. I don't know. I've had my period for 7 years and I've never clogged any toilet anywhere. It's not like tampons are very big. I don't see why it would clog it any more than poop! (hahaha that was really gross, but also made me laugh). It's just like a little wad of toilet paper. I guess if you have an old septic system it could clog it, but just as much as flushing a wad of toilet paper.

I mean I dunno, I was thinking earlier today that I don't think I've ever heard a TnS banter about periods, but I was wrong.
